Understanding Menopause and Taking Back Control - Why Knowledge Matters

Jumble of Words describing menopause symptoms

Menopause is something every woman will experience, yet for many of us it can feel confusing, frustrating, and sometimes overwhelming. One of the most powerful tools we can have during this stage of life is knowledge.

Hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone begin to fluctuate during perimenopause and gradually decline through menopause and beyond. These changes can affect far more than just our reproductive health. They can influence energy levels, sleep, mood, muscle mass, bone health, metabolism and overall wellbeing.

Without understanding what’s happening in the body, many women blame themselves when things start to feel different. You might notice that the exercise routine that once worked no longer delivers the same results, or that you feel more fatigued, experience hot flushes, or struggle with sleep.

Many women also notice physical and emotional changes they didn’t expect. Joint aches, tendon problems, or feeling more prone to injuries...

Others experience low mood, anxiety, or a loss of confidence, which can make the thought of walking into a gym feel intimidating.

Understanding that these changes have a physiological cause can be hugely reassuring — and it also helps us adjust how we train and care for our bodies.

At JDW Fitness we pride ourselves on offering more than just a gym membership. Our coaching and programmes are designed with a focus on expert guidance, personalised support, and real results — especially for women navigating life changes like menopause. By combining knowledge, care, and high standards, we ensure that every session is safe, effective, and empowering, helping you build strength and confidence in a way that truly works for your body.

That’s exactly why we are launching our Menopause Strength & Fitness Course — a supportive programme designed specifically for women navigating peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopause.

Led by a qualified menopause coach, the course focuses on helping women:

• Understand how hormonal changes affect the body

• Learn how to exercise effectively during menopause

• Build strength and confidence

• Improve energy, wellbeing and long-term health

If you’d like to feel stronger, more informed and more supported during menopause, this course could be the perfect place to start.
