Staying Safe

If you are having suicidal thoughts please take time to visit https://stayingsafe.net/ If you’re struggling and you’re not sure if you want to live or die can you, just for now, hold off making this decision and keep reading and watching the videos for some ideas about how to get through.

There may be things that you – and other people – can do to make things better.

Staying Safe gives you information on how to make a SAFETY PLAN for your self and others.

Samaritans
You can call the Samaritans at any time from any phone on 116 123 during the recent pandemic years phone lines have become increasingly busy.  Keep trying. They offer a safe place for you to talk any time you like, in your own way – about whatever’s getting to you. They don’t judge you or tell you what to do, they listen to you.

Shout

TEXT SHOUT to 85258 You can text anytime day or night, your messages are confidential and anonymous. Its is free to text SHOUT from all major mobile networks in the UK.

Calm

CALM Helpline – The Campaign Against Living Miserably offers confidential, anonymous and free support information and signposting to anyone anywhere in the UK through their helpline.

Call 0800 58 58 58 (nationwide, open 7 days a week, 5pm to midnight. Calls are free from landlines, payphones, and all mobiles).

PAPYRUS

Prevention of young suicide, for the under 35’s is a national confidential helpline for any young people (under 35) at risk of suicide, or anyone worried about a young person at risk of suicide. The helpline is open 9am until midnight, every day of the year.

R;pple

R;pple has been set up by Alice who lost her brother Josh in November 2020. It is an app that can be downloaded onto any device. It intercepts harmful content relating to self-harm and/or suicide through innovative technology.

To ensure all users searching for harmful content online are presented with an opportunity of hope that things can and will get better. To ensure immediate mental health support and resources are presented to individuals following a harmful online search.

Menfulness

Menfulness is a men’s social wellbeing group who offer support to men suffering with their mental health through activities and counselling.

YoungMinds

YoungMinds fight for children and young people’s mental health, to stop young people feeling alone and make sure all young people have access to the support they need, when they need it.

Their website provides online resources for both young people and caregivers.

York Mind

York Mind exists to promote recovery from mental ill-health, emotional wellbeing and independent living. The provide a wide range of support services including counselling, education, activities and age-specific services.
