Event Description

Come and join us for the 9th trail race in memory of Ben Campbell!!

NOW KNOWN AS - "THE HOODED HORSE 10K"

This race has been organised as a non-profit charity event,

celebrating the life of Ben Campbell.

Ben Campbell was a friend of ours, who grew up in Thirsk, and tragically died at the age of 36 in Jan 2015, very unexpectedly, from pneumococcal pneumonia.

Ben loved a challenge and it is for this reason that this idyllic location has been chosen. Not only does it encompass the true beauty of the North Yorkshire countryside but the terrain itself is a challenge to run on, we are sure you will truly enjoy it.

The course is fully way marked and marshalled, both hilly and muddy in places with breath-taking scenery.

It presents itself to both seasoned and beginner runners aged 18 years or over.

Medals will be awarded for the first 3 Males and first 3 Females, as well as a trophy for the out-right winner of the race.

This year, our chosen charity is a local one - The Charlie Dallas Lancaster Foundation.

CDLF work alongside mental health charities, support services and organisations.  Providing varying amounts of information, inclusion and funding where there is a specific need - within the local community.

This is the last time we will be organising the race so we want to make it the best one yet!!

Not to fear, as it's such a cracking little race, Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers will be taking it over in 2025, and who knows, you might even see us on the start line then!

Just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone that's ever offered their support.

This is a small event, so the atmosphere is incredibly friendly, and everyone is extremely supportive. We keep costs low so that as much money as possible goes to the charity.
